27th February – Year 9/10 Rugby

The tournament took place at Scarborough RFU in very cold conditions. The team finished third in their group narrowly losing both games. Rydale and Lady Lumlies schools both had extra pace in the wide areas which allowed breakaway tries.
In the shield final match we saw some great team tries, the first finished off by Harry Burgess. Archie Thompson showed good organisation and solid tackling. Man of the tournament was Arlan Smith whose strength and knowledge of the game was evident throughout. Well done lads

26th February – Y10 Football

Our year 10 football team traveled to Malton school for the annual district tournament this afternoon. All three games were competitive.
The first saw us finding our feet and we looked a little nervous against Malton. We went a goal down early and it stayed that way until half time. Second half saw sustained pressure by us with some quick feet and skills by Harrison Barber. James Sciafe was a constant threat, but we could not break them down. They scored two late conciliation goals as we opened up to score an equaliser.
Game two against a strong St Augustines side saw us battle hard with Kieran Taylor running the defence and again Harrison showing nibble feet and great awareness. Our goalkeeper Matty Walker was very busy during this match.
Game three against Eskdale was very open and end to end. Both teams taking a more direct approach. Kieran   Holmes has a great chance when put clean through, unfortunately the keeper made a solid save. Our best chance fell through Kieran Taylor who smashed a strong shot against the inside of the post through a crowded penalty area.
The team really enjoyed the tournament experience and can build upon this performance in the future. Special mention to Owen Follon who only started at school on Monday, Well done.

29th January – U14 Girls Football

A HUGE well done to our u14 girls football team who made it through to the semi finals, during yesterday’s district football tournament.

The girls topped their league, winning all 3 games- against St Augustines, Norton and Whitby. Goal scorers where Lilly-Mae Millward and Jorji Crawford.

The girls put a solid graft during the semi finals but where narrowly defeated 1-0 by Rydale.

12th December – Year 10 Rugby

Another win for TeamFiley!!

Great win for the Year 10 rugby team at Bridlington rugby club last night. Final score 46-10 against Headlands school. A near perfect performance in brutal conditions.

5th December – U14 Girls Football

The moment we have been waiting for…. our U14 girls 5 aside team came top of the district tournament last night after winning all their games!!

It is impossible to give a woman of the match as they all played unbelievably.

3rd December – Year 8 and 9 Netball

The Year 8 and 9 netball team played Whitby in the 3rd and 2nd round of the district cup.

Both results didn’t quite go our way- but both year groups managed to score. The year 8 girls managed to warm up in the final quarter where they controlled and manipulated Whitby, resulting in 4 goals being scored- woo!

Amelia Correia was the player of the match for the year 9s, having played almost every position possible.
And Nikita Gharib and Georgie Mckee for the year 8’s who placed a serious graft in throughout all 1/4’s played.

Both teams have one more game to play after christmas, hopefully we can conclude our season on a high.

2nd December – Year 9 Basketball

Year 9 basketballers fought hard this evening at Scalby school. Finished a well deserved third in the tournament. Massive improvements tonight. Top work lads.

19th November – Year 7 Boys Basketball

Well done to our newly formed basketball team from yr 7. We played in a three way tournament last night at Scalby school. We finished third, but only by a couple of baskets in every game we played. Well done chaps.

6th November – U14s Girls Football

The u14 girls football team travelled to Ryedale last night to play in the quarter finals of the cup.

It’s impossible to give a woman of the match to one person because every girl worked their absolute socks off. Unbelievable display of teamwork. It’s an absolute pleasure to take these girls to fixtures week in week out, a true credit to our school.

22nd October – Year 7 Girls Football

The girls showed fantastic spirits, despite not all the results going our way.

What a fantastic group of girls an absolute credit to the school.

Bring on the next match!

17th October – Year 9 and 10 Netball

The year 9 and 10 netball team travelled to St Augustines last night to play in the Scarborough netball competition.
This was the first match the year 10 girls had played together, this year. The girls worked fantastically together, improving match by match.
This was the second tournament the year 9s had played and wow! These girls have come on massively since the last tournament two weeks ago.
The girls work so collectively as a group, moving the ball up the court so naturally.

Finally, a huge shout out to Charlotte Stephenson who gave up her time to help coach the year 9s during their games. An absolute hero!

15th October – Year 7 Boys Football

The year 7 boys travelled to Malton School last night to play their first match together. The lads worked hard and improved immensely in the second half after conceding some early goals. Bags of potential in this team. Man of match was Oscar Webb. Well done to all involved.
